During the International day of Light, the Museum of Science and Technology of Luminescence of Federal University of São Carlos at Sorocaba city will perform expositions and demonstrations of Luminescence driven to health and environment, with a special emphasis on Bioluminescence, the emission of visible light by living organisms.

There will be expositions of Bioluminescent Beetles from the Atlantic rain forest and Amazon forest, as well as practical demonstrations of photoluminescence, chemiluminescence and bioluminescence, exhibiting products developed in our university.

The academic community of Sorocaba and region is welcome to participate. Vadim Viviani President International Society of Bioluminescence and Chemiluminescence (ISBC)

ISBC biannual meeting will be held in Nantes, France in May 2018

The International Society for Bioluminescence and Chemiluminescence (ISBC) The International Society for Bioluminescence and Chemiluminescence (ISBC) serves to promote the fundamental and applied sciences of bio- and chemi-luminescence throughout the world.

The ISBC aims at facilitating and promoting interactions between academic, governmental, and industrial scientists in the field of chemiluminescence and bioluminescence to help transfer technologies and, thus, advance the field. It was founded in 1995, and since then promoted 19 international biannual symposia, where the latest scientific discoveries and analytical applications about bio-, chemiluminescence and bio-fluorescence were reported, helping to create new partnerships, disseminating scientific knowledge and promoting new technological developments.

Nowadays, bioluminescence and chemiluminescence are widely used as analytical indicators in medicine, agriculture, industry and environment, through the use of luciferases, GFPs, luciferins and chemiluminescent substrates. The ISBC welcomes young scientists of different fields, industries and agencies to join the society and expose new discoveries and developments in the field of bioluminescence and chemiluminescence, contributing to construct a bright and sustainable future for humankind.

Fungal Gordon Research Conference and Seminar

Fungal Conference to be advertised on your Society’s website because we are very keen to attract more junior and senior scientists from your research community.

Details of this Fungal Gordon Research Conference and Seminar, which will be held from 16-22 June, 2018 at the Holderness School, New Hampshire, can be found at this website:

This Gordon Research Conference (GRC) will provide a superb interactive forum for the discussion of The State-of-the-Art in fungal biology, diversity, biotechnology and infection. A major goal of this conference is to increase our understanding of fungal systems and their diversity, and to address these major challenges in biotechnology, food security and human health. A second goal is to empower the next generation of leaders in our field by integrating gifted junior scientists with preeminent scientists from academia and industry in a spectacular setting that is highly conducive to informal interactions setting.

To enhance this further we are introducing, for the first time, an associated Gordon Research Seminar (GRS), which will include scientific and career mentoring sessions designed specifically for our junior scientists. The GRS and GRC will be held back-to-back from June 16-22.
